Since I have a meeting in Brussels tomorrow morning at 8.30, my secretary booked a hotel in the neighbourhood where I will stay tonight. Just visited their website. General: Parking, Restaurant, Pets allowed, Bar, 24 hour Front Desk, Newspapers, Non Smoking Rooms, Rooms/Facilities for Disabled, Elevator, Express checkin/checkout, Safe deposit box, Heating, Luggage storage, Gay friendly.
Gay friendly? What does that mean? Non gay unfriendly? Dark room available? Can I expect YMCA guys singing in the lobby? Would I get a discount if I say I'm gay? Help me out guys, I'm confused..

I think it means they supply the towels... The pool area may be a little edgy. I travel some and have never heard this term. Be careful where you step and disinfect the remote whatever you do.
Hey Pirate, welcome!
No such things here.
Just had diner here and it really is a place with "more than average" male couples. Friendly people, no macho stuff, a good meal and fine wine.
Great hotel as far as I am concerned. Still haven't found out what Gay friendly marketing means..
Well, there is a gay travel market out there and partly because some places apparently are not too gay friendly.
Double income couples, usually no kids... good travel marketing wouldn't want to miss that!
Guess you're right Gary, I am still wondering however what specific services will be given when a hotel is gay friendly (besides the stuff Pirate is talking about which is not the case here). Just saying your gay friendly makes no sense to me.
Thanx for your sincere reply Scott. I truly believe that every hotel in the Netherlands is gay friendly. In fact I think Holland is gay friendly (but I'm no expert). That's perhaps why we don't see specific gay friendly ads or marketing means of expression.
Indeed enjoyed the stay despite the fact that YMCA guys (nor Jehova's for that matter) didn't provide for the disco..
We can only hope that one day America will be as enlightened that the crass commercialism of it will be unnessesary. Most forget the role that the Netherlands played in our intellectual/political freedoms here,, but I haven't.
Definitely a place I want to visit very soon,, I will most likely be found in the Art galleries and museums.
Haven't found them yet Jon.
Good idea to start one perhaps..
