Operation Iraqi freedom

Prez Shrub was briefed by his top war mongers --ehh commanders -- Monday about how to deal with violence in Iraq as senior national security advisers gathered at his presidential retreat to chart how to help the newly named government in Baghdad.

After two days of hard labour, the culmination of the long and heated discussions in camp David is as follows: Operation Iraqi freedom means Iraq must be free of Iraqis.

Bush endorsed the views of his advisers. "I thought your assessment of the situation in Iraq was very realistic and I think your recommendations to us on how to win in Iraq - to have an Iraq that can govern itself, sustain itself, defend itself - BUT WITHOUT IRAQIS - your recommendations are valid," the president said.

Brig. Gen. Mark Kimmitt's advice to Iraqis who see TV images of innocent civilians killed by coalition troops: “Change the channel”..

I heard somewhere that we plan to leave 50,000 troops permanently stationed there.

The whole thing is insane.

Is that a true story? I can't tell anymore.

Sometimes these images are so surreal, I agree with lesley, it is difficult to distinguish between fact and fiction.

Wow, that's almost as good as saying that desperate people jailed indefinitely committing suide is "assymetric warfare."

Iraq has gone from a secular, well-educated, fairly equal for women, stable country with a murderous dictator to a country on the verge of civil war, where women are afraid to go outside, people are rounded up and killed by the government(with a murderous democratically elected leader--well someone else's democratically elected leader. Wait--I'm not so sure about the democratically elected part either).

I think the road to freedom in Iraq is a road that takes this one great country on road to a secular society. New movements need to be supported from the base that already exists, from workers' movements, Students and women’s movement.
Innocent people die from terrorism, whatever country or religious persuasion they may have. The real enemy is from within, from isolationist policies driven by fear.
The occupation's policy has certainly been the catalyst for the present day sectarian war, and the large numbers of Iraqi deaths. These different sectarian groups are supported by Iran, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. A movement to secular society would reflect human rights needs, and community values independent of religion, and could be assisted by the international human rights movementa, such as Amnesty, from the anti-war movement that not only proposes an end to the occupation, but presents a credible alternative to disengagement.

What is is to take place? And how will it evolve?

One immediate area that needs assistance I think is the media in Iraq.

The 12 satellite TV stations in Iraq, are all nationalist and ethnic in nature with every day, an education on how to hate your neighbours because they are Sunni or Shi'a; how to hate your sister because she's woman; how to educate your children to become suicide bombers.

As Rogers & Hammerstein’s lyrics resound in my head ….You have to be carefully taught, to hate your neighbour!!
Best wishes

I think they could re-populate Iraq with unemployed Americans from Mississippi, Louisiana and Tennessee. These folks are used to the heat and many need something to do.

Good plan overall George.
