On the 5th of March, two very beautiful women, Susana and Peronne, were called back to the light way too young. Yesterday we were told that our 22yo niece Martine decided to leave earth as well. May their beautiful souls rest in peace..
We are alive, therefore we will die. This is the simplest, most obvious truth of our existence, and yet it is so hard to come to terms with it. Truly respecting death and its inevitability brings, paradoxically, a relaxing of the fear of death, along with a heightened sense of the importance of life and of what we choose to do with the time we have. So live now and take good care of yourselves and your loved ones...
That time of year thou mayst in me behold
When yellow leaves, or none, or few, do hang
Upon those boughs which shake against the cold,
Bare ruin'd choirs, where late the sweet birds sang.
In me thou seest the twilight of such day
As after sunset fadeth in the west,
Which by and by black night doth take away,
Death's second self, that seals up all in rest.
In me thou see'st the glowing of such fire
That on the ashes of his youth doth lie,
As the death-bed whereon it must expire
Consumed with that which it was nourish'd by.
This thou perceivest, which makes thy love more strong,
To love that well which thou must leave ere long.

May I post my favouite hym, one I have sung many times with conviction.
Although it is of the christian persuasion, It could be viewed as the lord of whatever dimension in hope you chose from the infinite expansion of the wondrous universe.
Refrain
I have known the Lord, I have hear his voice
And I know he lives, and I know he lives
Death where is your sting? Fear where is your grip?
Hearts now free to love love now free to give
Verses
Those who seek the truth they are be bound in chains
But there is no chaining the word of God
If We die in Christ we shall rise with him
If we share his passion we shall reign with him
No geater love can there there be than this
To spend ones life to give life
In our fragile flesh the dying of the lord
In our faithfulful living his life revealed
best wishes
Dimitri, I'm so very sorry, both about your niece and your two friends.
I couldn't read the tributes but I could sense from what little I understood that they were wonderful people.
Afterthought. This is a strange song but it's always said something to me.
Can't even explain why.
Thank you Ann and Lindsay for your hymnes and thoughts..Take care
it is always extra sad when the person dying is young. Seems like they should have their entire life ahead of them. And yet it is sort of a message to those left behind to remember how precious life is, and how quickly it can end. To remember to live each day to it's full potential. though I have always thought you were one of those people who do that anyways.
*hug*
Sorry for the loss to you and all of we kindred souls. Thanks for the Shakespeare - very thoughtful.
A good friend of mine has a terminal diagnosis - I'm going to fly off to visit in April.
Lieve schat, it is very sad. Susana looked indeed to be someone I would want to (have been) friends with. And such a creative one at that! How beautiful are her 'gips' impressions? (how do you call that stuff in english again? I should know, I had one done when I was pregnant with my second one). Peronne was also so young, for crying out loud. As Lindsay eluded to, they were released to be free to love and I certainly believe in the afterworld. It is one of those irreconcilable facts, we live, we die. And some of us (yours truly, shame on me), live with too many fears while we live. Thank you for the beautiful tribute. Friends are friends forever, even after they passed on. I am also sorry to hear about your niece Martine. As much as you sound sanguine about it, no doubt you're sad. All the best to your family and Martine's parents. We experienced something similar when my nephew decided to 'leave' as well and he was only in his early twenties.
hugs and kisses,
Ingrid
I'm so sorry, Dimitri. I wish you strength.
My condolences for your loss.
My thoughts are with you.
I'm so sorry.
Thank you all for your beautiful thoughts..
