Friday CONTEST day..

Last contest won by Canadian Princess Veena. She was the first to discover La Sagrada Familia - Barcelona, Spain. Oh, by the way: On top of the church we got engaged. "Erm..Say what?" No kidding!!
Veena please e-mail the adress where I can send you the souvenir. Sorry Gary and Lisa, correct answer but only prize for first answer available :-)

Allright; now for this week. First one to guess right will receive an appropriate Amsterdam souvenir!

Any ideas? I'll send souvenirs all over the world. Even to Australia, Moscow, Oslo, Dubhay, Japan and Lebanon!! Who's first??

Saturday update: Again I have to help you guys out. Might as well send souvenirs without having a contest :-) Here's a picture of the entire city:

I'm going with 2 things - first, the location is in your hearts and you'll remember the kiss much longer than the cathedral (prize?). Congratulations!

Second guess - Central Cathedral in Amsterdam...

This is sort of present and not distant past? If it's lately, well, CONGRATULATIONS!

Honest, my verification word is dawomb. Da womb, man, don't forget da womb!

Well, that's just so romantic that I'm melting over here.

DA! Are you not going to share ANYTHING about the lucky lady?!?!

Ingrid said...

Ok, there's a 'wee bit' of cheating going on because my mom is visiting from Holland and she said she wasn't really sure but she figured it had to be the Westertoren because that's the one that's talked about a lot.
So... my final answer IS...
De Westertoren!
Ingrid
oh and pardon my manners, hartelijk gefeliciteerd! To both of you!

It's definitely in the Netherlands (dah .. the restaurant sign in the last pic) - but I am not familiar enough with your flat lands to point it out ... so I just pass.
Nice kiss though on top of the tower, real sweet. Reminds me of times ....

Westerkerk, is it the 85 metre high cathedral tower, the westertoren.
best wishes

DA said...

Thx for the congrats my friends but it isn't the Westertower that could be seen by Anne Frank via the attic window. It's not even in the Netherlands.

Zee is right, look at the sign. I supposed it would tell you enough.

Oh and the name of the lady is Ursula! Pardon for not properly introducing her Lisa.

btw, Madcap, my veriword was rrphsqhd. I'm gonna switch it off again and see if it leads to spam.

Gary, the jury (U & I:-)found your answer prizeworthy indeed:-)

Tina if you're melting you should visit Gary's.

Ingrid, I am sure that you and your mom have visited this Cathedral once (I expect Zee too).

Lindsay, for once you are not right this time.

Thx Mary, no guessing this time. Wonderful souvenirs to win eh?

"Grote Guesting" ... hmmm, I'm not giving up quite yet. Water, the sea, let me see - OK I'll vote for Copenhagen.

Anonymous said...

... PS. Grote Guesting, it sounds so mushy like someone who has warm cooked cereal in their mouth, constantly. Must be in Denmark.

Zee, my friend, you're getting colder and colder :-))

My answer to this week's picture: 'Our Lady's Cathedral' in Antwerp.

Ingrid said...

What? Not in Holland? And you think my mom and I must have been there? Let me see that picture again!
(geez...lol)
Ingrid

Ingrid said...

OK lieve schat, ik heb het moeten opzoeken. sorry, switching to english!! Dimitri, I guess in honour of your name, you chose...
the St. Alexander Nevsky church! (nearby the Groote Goesten cafe in Rotterdam, hence the boat and the water!)..
well, I have been in Rotterdam yeeeaars ago with a school trip and toured the harbour and the zoo, but we did not go to that part of town.
Oh and ehm..if that was not correct..how about the Poolse kerk? (sigh, gotta keep trying..)

Is it called Old Church (only in Dutch)? That is my guess.

I'm going with Ingrid!
After a long nightmare I was thinking Rotterdam all night long.
Perhaps we can share the price?

And Dimitri, last time I visited Rotterdam I was two years old, inbound on a boat from New York.

Ingrid said...

Sure, I'll share! But first, let's see if there's anything to share in the first place..oh Di-MI-TRI! We're dying to know what it is!!

Ladies and gentlemen: we have a winner! Congratulations Mary. You've won an authentic Amsterdam souvenir. It's indeed the Cathedral of Antwerp where we spend the weekend and bargained for cheap engagement rings in the Jewish area. So Mary please send me an adress to where I can send the souvenir. Thank you all for participating and have a nice working week.

Glad to be your humble CafeDA bartender where your virtual drinks are allways on the house! Please join the contest next time Lesley and Veena, perhaps more luck then :-)

Helaas geen prijs voor jou Lieve Schat :-)Volgende keer beter!!

Zee, sorry to have caused you nightmares

Ingrid said...

LOL..I totally missed the one important clue of it being outside of Holland..DUH! Congrats Mary, let us know what fun thing you got, you've got bragging rights now!
Ingrid

LesleyinNM said...

Ingrid - don't feel bad I missed that clue too.

Mary said...

Thank you, thank you...
